Supporting community development projects is another, smaller, contribution we make to local development. From the same internal questionnaire, our senior country representatives estimate that we spent approximately $140 million in 2006, on social investment activities. The largest programmes were in Nigeria and the USA. This amount is separate from the activities of the independent Shell Foundation (see next page).
